CAUTION:

The heat sink and CPU might be very hot. Turn off the server and wait three to five minutes to let the
server cool before removing the server cover.

To replace the system board, do the following:

1. Prepare your server and remove the server cover. See “Preparing your server in advance and removing

the server cover” on page 57.

2. Lay the server on its side for easier operation.

3. Record the cable routing and cable connections. Then, disconnect all cables from the system board.

4. To access the system board, do the following in order:

“Removing the rear system fan” on page 93

“Removing a PCIe card” on page 62

“Removing a memory module” on page 61

“Removing the heat sink and fan assembly” on page 95

“Removing the CPU” on page 104

“Removing the coin-cell battery” on page 107

5. Remove the eight screws that secure the system board following the recommended numerical sequence

as shown. Then, carefully remove the system board out of the chassis.
