Danger of explosion if battery is inproperly replaced.
When replacing the lithium coin cell battery, use only the same or an equivalent type that is
recommended by the manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and can explode if not properly
used, handled, or disposed of.
Do not:
• Throw or immerse into water
• Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)
• Repair or disassemble
Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
The following statement applies to users in the state of California, U.S.A.
California Perchlorate Information:
Products containing manganese dioxide lithium coin cell batteries may contain perchlorate.

Removing the coin-cell battery
To remove the coin-cell battery, do the following:
1. Prepare your server and remove the server cover. See “Preparing your server in advance and removing
the server cover” on page 57.
2. Lay the server on its side for easier operation.
3. Locate the coin-cell battery. See “Server components” on page 22.
Note: If there is any PCIe card installed on the system board, it might block your access to the coin-cell
battery. In this case, remove the PCIe card. See “Removing a PCIe card” on page 62.
4. Remove the old coin-cell battery.

5. Dispose of the old coin-cell battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
Installing the coin-cell battery
Note: After you install the coin-cell battery, you must reset passwords, reset system date and time, and
reconfigure the server.
