22.4 Checking/setting position of knotter needles to plunger

Damage to the needle yoke! If the setting for spring length Y is not performed in idle position,
the needle yoke may be damaged. Perform setting for spring length Y just in idle position, refer
to page 113 .
„
Tension the spring (4) by tightening the nut (3) until the spring length is Y=105 mm.
„ Loosen the counter nut (8).
„
Tighten or loosen nut (9) until the dimension is Z=6 mm.
„ Tighten the counter nut (8).
„
Check dimension X.
Æ
If the dimension is X=35 mm, the setting is correct.
Æ If the dimension is not X=35 mm, the procedure must be repeated.

„
Release the spring tension of the needle brake completely.
„ Trigger the tying process manually with machine at standstill, refer to page 112 .
„
Turn the flywheel manually in working direction until the needle points (1) have reached the
upper edge (b) of the fixed retainers (3) in the bale channel floor,
refer to page 113 .
„ In order to block the needles in this positon, apply the flywheel brake, refer to page 92 .
„
Check the dimension X between the plunger front edge and the needle point.
Æ If the dimension is X=60–90 mm , the setting is correct.

If dimension X is not 60–90 mm , the position of the knotter needles to the plunger must be
adjusted.
