MIDI Setup
The
The iS35 includes a utility function defined as MIDI
Setup that allows for setting all the parameters for the
MIDI communication between the iS35 and a control
device (master keyboard, MIDI accordion, etc.) at the
same time. The use of the MIDI Setup is illustrated in
detail in the next paragraphs.
We recommend you to consider each MIDI Setup as a
starting point on which you can freely intervene. Once
you have selected the most appropriate MIDI Setup
for the connection to be made, you can modify the
parameters as necessary and save the Global in the
memory with the “Write Global” function (see
page 167). The configuration will be maintained when
the instrument is turned off and the MIDI parameters
will be correctly set when you turn on the instrument
again.
Connecting the iS35 to a MIDI keyboard
You can control the iS35 with a master keyboard or
any other MIDI keyboard. You only need to connect
the MIDI OUT connector of the master keyboard to the
MIDI IN 1 connector of the iS35. The master keyboard
will become the integrated keyboard of the iS35 if it
transmits over the Global channel of the iS35.
If the master keyboard transmits over the Global chan-
nel of the iS35, the split point and the status of the Key-
board Mode and Keyboard Assign sections in the
control panel will affect the notes received from the
master keyboard (Arrangement Play and Backing
Sequence modes).
According to the factory settings, the Global channel
of the iS35 is the MIDI 1 channel when you turn the
instrument on. Most of the keyboards transmit over
this channel when turned on and in general no pro-
gramming operations are necessary.
Connections and settings
To connect the master keyboard to the iS35 follow this
procedure:
1
Connect the MIDI OUT connector of the master
keyboard to the MIDI IN 1 connector of the
iS35.
2

the Global channel of the iS35 (see paragraph

For information on the master keyboard program-
