Error 38 Movement of X motor failed
CAUSE A
The X movement is not working correctly.
SOLUTION A
The movement not working correctly may be due to
a fault in the
• motor,
• motor cable,
• R5100 Stepper driver module,
• cable between the stepper driver module and the
R3300 IO board.
Use service command “drivemotor x manual” to
test whether the motor is working properly. If the
unit is moving in X direction, the problem is proba-
bly in position detection (CAUSE B). Otherwise one
of the components listed above is faulty. Continue
with inspecting cables and connectors. Replace
parts one by one if needed.
CAUSE B
Position detection showing incorrect values.
SOLUTION B
Use service command “drivemotor x manual” and
the chin support up/down buttons to drive past the
positions where the opto switches are activated/de-
activated. Check for messages in the s2terminal in-
dicating the switches changing state. If no such
messages are seen, there is a problem with the
EG100 opto board or the cable between the opto
switch and the R3300 IO board. Check the parts
listed and replace if needed.
