ELECTRIC POWER STEERING*
The electric power steering system
is able to provide assistance during
driving, so as to reduce the operation
efforts of steering wheel.
During parking or driving at excessively
low speed, if the steering wheel is
operated repeatedly or continuously,
the assistance to the steering wheel
will decrease, so as to protect the
electric power steering system against
overheat and damage, When the
assistance reduces, the operation to
the steering wheel becomes harder. It,
however, will recover to be normal after
the temperature of the electric power
steering system lowers down. Please
avoid such a kind of steering wheel
operation, since it will cause the electric
power steering system overheat.
When rotating the steering wheel quickly,
grating may be heard and it is not a fault.
When the engine is running, the EPS
warning lamp will be lighted, suggesting
that the electric power steering system
has problems; the steering booster will
fails to work but still can help to control
the vehicle. However, a larger force
shall be used to operate the steering
wheel, especially during sharp turning or
lowspeed driving.
In such a case if any, park the vehicle at
a safe place and shut down the engine;
restart the engine to reset the system.
EPS warning lamp will be lighted, but
the engine shall be shut down after
traveling for a certain distance. If the
lamp fails to go out or is re-lighted during
the driving, have your vehicle inspected
at either Dongfeng Franchise Store or
IKCO authorised representatives.
Note:
• If the engine fails to run or stop
during driving, the steering
assistance will lose and the steering
wheel operating effort will be larger.
• If the EPS warning lamp is lighted
when the engine is running, the
steering wheel assistance will lose
but you can still control the vehicle.
However, larger force is required
to operate the steering wheel
especially during sharp turning or
low-speed driving.
