2 Using the Telepresence System Manager

2.1.2 Configuring the Browser
Prerequisites
Ensure that the latest patches for the computer operating system and the browser are installed.
Context
On the browser, turn off
Pop-up Blocker
, or add the website address of the Telepresence
System Manager to trusted sites.
Internet Explorer 8.0 and Firefox 3.5 are used as examples to describe how to configure
browsers. The method of configuring other versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox is the
similar to that of configuring Internet Explorer 8.0 and Firefox 3.5.
Procedure
Step 1
Launch Internet Explorer.
Step 2
Choose
Tools
>
Internet Options
to display the
Internet Options
dialog box.
Step 3
Click the
Security
tab, choose
Internet
>
Custom level
to display the
Security Settings
dialog box.
Step 4
Enable
Active Scripting
and all the parameters under
Downloads
.
Step 5
Click
OK
to return to the
Internet Options
dialog box.
Step 6
Click
Trusted sites
and then
Sites
to display the
Trusted sites
dialog box.
Step 7
In
Add this website to the zone
, enter the IP address or domain name of the Telepresence
System Manager.
Step 8
Click
Add
.
Step 9
Click
OK
to return to the
Internet Options
dialog box.
Step 10
Click
OK
.
To configure Firefox, do the following:
From the menu bar of Firefox, choose
Tools
>
Options
. From the
General
tab, enable
Show
the Downloads window when downloading a file
. From the
Privacy
tab, select
Use custom
settings for history
, select
Accept cookies from sites
, and click
OK
to save the settings.

2.1.3 Using HTTP or HTTPS for Login
Context
The Telepresence System Manager supports Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and
Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS). HTTPS enhances the security of data
transmission. By default, HTTPS is used. For details about how to enable HTTPS, see
