7.3.2.1
RITE-ON HARNESSES
EQUIPPED WITH RITE-ON
BAYONET BUCKLE
CONNECTIONS
(see figures
5A-G)
STEP 1
(figure 5B)
First, pick up
the harness
by the back
D-ring. The
letter “A”,
along with
arrows
indicating the
upright
position, is
stamped on
the outside of
the webbing
below the
D-ring pad.
This will allow
you to distin-
guish between
the front and
the back of the
harness. In all
cases, be sure that all straps are not tan-
gled.
STEP 2
(figure
5C) Grasp first
one and then
the other front
shoulder strap,
sliding them
over your arms
and into posi-
tion on your
shoulders. The
D-ring pad should lie flat against your
body with the back D-ring in an outward
position and
both letters
“A” visible.
STEP 3
(figure
5D) The leg
straps should
now be hang-
ing behind
your buttocks.
Reach between
your legs and
pull the leg straps through, one at a time,
and buckle them at your hips (figure 6).
Adjust the straps loosely for now.
STEP 4
(figure
5E) Adjust the
shoulder
straps by
passing the
webbing
backwards or
forwards
through the
sliding bar
friction buckle
above the hip
(figure 13). Start at your left hip and
repeat on the right. Keep the straps snug
but comfortable. Equalize the fit by
keeping the strap ends as equal as
possible in length.
STEP 5
(figure
5F) Attach the
chest strap by
inserting the
tab of the
buckle into
receptor of
quick connect
buckle (figure
9). Chest strap
should be six
inches down
from the top of shoulders.
STEP 6
(figure
5G) Finally,
check that the
back D-ring is
properly
located in the
middle of your
shoulder
blades. Reach
back, over
your shoulder
with your
elbow pointing upwards. You should just
be able to grasp the D-ring with your
fingertips. Have a co-worker verify its
location visually on your behalf. Readjust
the harness and D-ring position if you
cannot complete this action. Now, check
that all belts and straps are secure and
snug. Be sure they do not bind or restrict
movement. Secure all straps into
keepers or tuck them into the harness.
When crouching, your sub pelvic strap
should provide a seat for the buttocks in
the harness. Relocate all keepers so that
you minimize the slack in the straps.
