9 Cutting
tables
Many factors influence the quality of the cut, the most important are the plasma current (Amperes), the
cutting speed (mm/min.) and the kerf width (mm). These factors vary according to the cutting thickness. The
distance between the torch and material during cutting, ignition and piercing also vary with the cutting
thickness. It is important that these values are correct to attain the optimum results. Values stored in the
cutting tables can be modified by the operator for fine tuning. There are also several corrections that can be
applied to compensate for other factors which may influence the quality. These corrections are general and
not directly related to the cutting thickness. By customising your cutting tables you can achieve the best
results for all your projects. This chapter provides explanations of the columns in the cutting table and their
influence on the final results.

Editing the cutting table
To edit the cutting table first open the ‘Cutting settings’ from the ‘Service’ menu at the top of your
screen or using the button on the right of your screen.
In the ‘Cutting Settings Editor’ select your torch from the drop down
menu. And click on the button ‘Edit cutting table’. The ‘Cutting table
editor’ will now open.
In the example shown the selected torch is the PB-S75 for the Fine
Focus 800 plasma unit. The current, speed, ignition height and cutting
height affect the quality. The kerf width, angle corrections and melt
corrections affect the accuracy.
An example of the editor is shown here below followed by a description
of the settings and the buttons.
