Fryer Alarms and Errors

5.03.1

High-Limit Temperature Safety Shutdown

All Giles Fryers, whether Computer Control or Manual Control, feature a high-temperature fire safety protection

completely independent of the Fryer’s oil

temperature regulating controller.

Should uncontrolled heating of the oil occur due

to malfunction, or other causes, the

Hi-Limit

Protection Control

in the

WOG-MP-VH Frye

r

will automatically turn

OFF

power to the heating

elements when temperature reaches

425°F

[218°C]

, which is well below the flashpoint of

cooking oil. Shutdown occurs even though the

Selector Switch remains in the

[COOK]

position.

The overheat condition is signaled by the red

[HI-LIMIT]

indicator light on the Control Panel,

which turns

ON

when power to elements is

shutdown.

NOTE: This will be the ONLY

indication.

Typical causes of Hi-Limit shutdown (not an all inclusive list ...

most cases will require a Service Technician to

diagnose the issue and correct)

:

• Malfunction of temperature regulating electronic component (Controller, Thermostat, or Hi-Limit Control).
• Faulty variable temperature probe.
• Improper positioning of the hi-limit temperature probe.
• Excessively low oil level.
• Failure to vigorously stir oil during pre-heating when starting with cold, thick cooking oil.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONTINUE COOKING OPERATIONS ON A FRYER WHEN A HI-LIMIT

SHUTDOWN HAS OCCURRED UNTIL THE CAUSE HAS BEEN DEFINITELY DETERMINED.

The HI-LIMIT Control is a

fire safety device

attempt to disable or bypass it. Doing so will be a violation

of code and the appliance listing, and will void the factory warranty.
