Set a separate timer and spin until the desired time has elapsed, or until cell
product has sufficiently separated (Figure 6-19).

Press the SUPER OUT button to advance the COBE 2991 to the
Supernatant-Out operation. The SOV or collect valve (if applicable) opens,
and fluid/cells are expressed into the waste collection bag or an optional
collection container (if applicable) connected to the blue-striped tubing.
The COBE 2991 stops expressing fluid/cells when:
• The RCD detects RBCs (Figure 6-20). The hydraulic pump stops while
the centrifuge continues to spin. See “Red Cell Detector” on page 1-6.

• The volume expressed equals the volume set on the SUPER OUT
VOLUME control. The hydraulic pump stops while the centrifuge
continues to spin. See “SUPER OUT” on page 3-3.
