3.2 CONNECTION TO THE POWER SUPPLY
Check whether the mains voltage and frequency indicated on
the device are the same as the voltage and frequency of the
supply network.
Check the connection cables for possible damage. If the cable
shows damage, replace it immediately!
3.3 START-UP
• TRACHEOPORT
®
COMPACT is delivered ready for
operation.
• Lift the device out of the packaging. Check whether the
voltage values indicated on the power rating plate agree with
the voltage supplied.
• Always place the device on a level, secure surface.
• The rechargeable battery must be fully charged prior to first
use. To this end, charge the device as described in Section
3.4!
• Switch the device on with the aid of the ON/OFF button
(Figure 2, ➌). If the operating status indicator (Figure 2/4,
➎) lights up in green, the device is ready for operation. If the
operating status indicator (Figure 2/4, ➎) lights up in yellow,
the rechargeable battery must be charged. (see Section
3.4).
• Be sure to heed the safety instructions in Section 2.0 before
taking the device into operation for the first time.
• After being transported at temperatures below the freezing
point, the device must be left to stand at room temperature
for up to six hours. If the device is not acclimatised, it
must not be operated, as the membranes of the unit could
be damaged.
• Always have at least one bacterial filter ready, since it is not
allowed to operate the device without this!
3.4 CHARGING THE BATTERY
The battery is charged via the 12 V low-voltage connection of
the device. While charging is in progress, the battery capacity
status indicator (Figure 2/4, ➍) flashes green. As soon as the
battery has been fully charged, the battery capacity status
indicator (Figure 2/4, ➍) lights in green. The device can be
charged or operated with either the power supply (Figure 3) or
the car connection cable (Figure 3a).
3.4.1 OPERATION / CHARGING WITH BATTERY
CHARGER
Connect the low voltage cable of the power supply (Figure 3,
➑) to the low voltage connection of the device (Figure 2, ➐).
Plug the mains plug of the power supply (Figure 3, ➒) into the
wall socket.
3.4.2 OPERATION / CHARGING WITH
CAR CONNECTION CABLE
Connect the low voltage connection of the device (Figure 2, ➐)
to the cigarette lighter socket of the car, using the special car
cable (Figure 3a).
CAUTION!
When the power supply or the car connection cable is
connected, the full suction power is available, even if the
battery is empty. If the suctioning device is switched on via
the ON/OFF button, the battery capacity status indicator
goes out and the operating status indicator lights up in
green.
