8.0 TROUBLESHOOTING

COMPACT device has been subjected to a thorough inspection at the factory. Should a malfunction
nevertheless arise, you may possibly be able to rectify it yourself if you observe the following instructions.
Symptom of malfunction Possible cause Remedy
Device fails to start
operating
Rechargeable battery discharged
Connect the power supply. To enable the
device to be operated without being connec -
ted to the mains power supply, the battery
should be charged for 1-2 hours.
Mains plug of the power supply is not well
seated
Check all plug connections. Observe the
indicator light; this must be lit if connection
has been correctly established.
Vacuum in the container De-aerate container
Insufficient power
Rechargeable battery discharged Charge battery
Filter is obstructed Replace filter
Leak in the tubing or the secretion container
lid
Check secretion container lid and tubing for
firm seating
1. Weak vacuum or no
vacuum is indicated
1.1 Bacterial filter is missing Insert bacterial filter
1.2 Leak in the tubing or on the secretion
container lid
Check connections of connecting tube/
bacterial filter
Check assembly position of the secretion
container lid
Check secretion container lid and tubing for
firm seating
1.3 Secretions or blood have been aspirated
into the device and the valve platelets of the
unit are sticking
If this is the case, the device must be sent
in for repair
2. Strong vacuum is
indicated
2.1 Bacterial filter is obstructed Replace bacterial filter
2.2 The float of the overflow protector is
blocking the secretion container lid inlet
Check inlet of secretion container lid. If
necessary, empty container, clean overflow
protector and check float for free movement
