Operation
Using Presenter with MIDI control
Instead of the keyboard and mouse, there are a number of methods using external devices that are
available for controlling the DV-7PR.
The control methods given here are only effective for control the Presenter application. For information
regarding controlling the Editor application, refer to the DV-7 and DV-7C instruction manuals.
Using MIDI devices
Using an optional USB compatible MIDI interface, you can perform all sorts of controls with a MIDI
device. You can also assign control functions via MIDI messages according to the environment of the
device.
Connect the USB compatible MIDI interface cable to the [REMOTE] jack on the rear panel of the DV-
7PR.
You can use the following MIDI interfaces.
UM-1, UM-1S, UM-2, UM-2E, UM-2C, UM-4, UM-550, UM-880, PCR-30, PCR-50, PC-300
The driver software supplied with the above are not needed. Also, when multiple interfaces are
connected, or the interface has more than one port, all input signals are merge (mix), and output
signals are parallel (the same signals are output).
Be sure to turn off all the devices before making the connections.
Playing video clips
Perform the MIDI preference settings.
These settings are retained independent of the project.
With these settings, you can perform the operation given below.
Palette selection
Select a palette using Bank Select MSB. The value range is from 0 to 19.
Video clip playback
Select a video clip and start playback using Program Change. The value range is from 0 to 31.
Playback speed control
Control the playback speed. The operation is at the following Step 3.
Dissolve time control
Control the dissolve time. The operation is at the following Step 4.
Volume control
Control the volume. The operation is at the following Step 5.
Playback two video clips simultaneously (Dual Stream Mode)
Turn on and off the Dual Stream Mode. Also control the mixture rate of the playing video clips. The
operation is at the following Step 6.
Setting the Time Trip Pad
Set the Time Trip Pad on the V-Synthesizer. The operation is at the following Step 7.
Stopping video clip playback
Stop the video playback using the All Notes Off message (the screen will turn black).
Playback speed control, Dual Stream Mode, and dissolve time reset
Return the playback speed to its original, the Dual Stream Mode to off, and the dissolve time to 0
seconds, using the Reset All Controllers message.
