AMPS-1 OPERATING MANUAL
In the past, some patient monitors did not have isolation between their ECG and BP
channels. With these early monitors, ECG, BP and other patient signals shared a
common circuit ground. But when ECG and BP channels were connected to the same
simulator, the signals could appear to fail required tests. However, isolation problems
such as this are generally not an issue with the current generation of patient monitors.
In most cases, the ISOLATION button (located next to the RS-232 port on the bottom
side of AMPS-1) should remain in the
OFF (out) position. If there seems to be an
interaction when ECG and BP signals of AMPS-1 are simultaneously connected to a
monitor, press the ISOLATION button to the ON (in) position.
Note: since the ISOLATION function reduces battery life, it should o n ly
b e u s e d w h e n n e c e s s ary .
Respiration artifact can be selected on all BP channels; RESP ARTIFACT1 has an
amplitude of 5 mmHg, and RESP ARTIFACT2 has an amplitude of 10 mmHg.
6.2 Available Settings
Press ENTER after selecting a parameter to activate that setting.
6.2.1 Transducer Sensitivity
• 5 or 40 ì V/V/mmHg
6.2.2 Static Levels (all channels)
• -10, -5, 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 160, 180, 200, 240, 320 and 400 mmHg
6.2.3 Dynamic Simulations (all channels)
• Arterial 120/80

• Left Ventrical 120/0
