2.5 ALPHA and NUMERIC Modes
Pressing the SHIFT key while viewing any AMPS-1 menu will toggle between ALPHA
and NUMERIC operating modes.
At power-on, AMPS-1 defaults to operating in ALPHA mode. In this mode, each
keypad button (ECG; ARRY; RESP; and so on) enters a menu corresponding to the
label on the button face. The scroll keys (

) are then used to navigate the
selected menu. When a desired setting is shown on the LCD display, the ENTER
button is pressed to activate the setting.
In NUMERIC mode, code numbers can be input via the AMPS-1 keypad which will
then activate corresponding simulation functions or settings. Code numbers used in
NUMERIC mode are listed in Appendix A of this manual.
2.6 Power-On Defaults
A wide range of simulation parameters are automatically initialized to default values
when AMPS-1 is powered up. These settings are the "Power-On" defaults for AMPS-1.
Immediately after applying power to AMPS-1, pressing the VIEW/SAVE button
repeatedly will scroll through the current settings for the "Power- On" defaults, as
shown in
Figure 3 through Figure 9 inclusive.
