Power Detector

A power detector is provided to monitor the output power. It has a useful range of over 20 dB, referenced to the unit’s rated P1dB

point. Its value can be read by executing the RMS query. The test data supplied with each unit gives an indication of the accuracy

and flatness of the power monitor over the frequency band of operation.

5.2.6

Some Common Queries

The most common queries are listed here. Full details for each of these are listed in Section 5.4.

•

RMS (Retrieve Maintenance Status): Displays voltages, fan speeds, heatsink temperature, output power monitor reading, etc.

•

RCS (Retrieve Configuration Status): Displays current status of attenuation, mute, amplifier, online, etc.

•

RAS (Retrieve Alarm Status): Displays current alarm or fault status.

5.3

Remote Control Protocol and Structure

The LPOD-R SSPA/BUC supports the command protocol over a Telnet session through the use of a 10/100Base-T Ethernet

connection to the product. The Ethernet communications interface also supports SNMP protocol, and provides an HTTP

(Web Server) Interface that can be accessed using a web browser.

The SSPA/BUC also supports a Comtech EF Data FSK link that allows one of Comtech EF Data’s modem products to control the

SSPA/BUC remotely through the L-Band RF cable.

5.3.1

Basic Protocol

All data is transmitted in framed packets. The host controller is assumed to be a PC or ASCII dumb terminal, which is in charge of the

process of monitor and control. The controller is the only device that is permitted to initiate, at will, the transmission of data. Targets

are only permitted to transmit when they have been specifically instructed to do so by the controller.

All bytes within a packet are printable ASCII characters, less than ASCII code 127. In this context, the Carriage Return and Line Feed

characters are considered printable.
