5.4.11 CONFIG: Mask
The Mask submenus permit the user to selectively mask, or make active, various alarms and
traffic conditions that are monitored in the modem.
Alarm Masks: AIS Buffer Ref RxIF TxClk
TxSat RxSat Terr-Alarm BUC LNB CEX (
34
)
Use the
◄
►
arrow keys to select the parameter – the submenu branches available are
AIS
,
Buffer
,
Ref
,
RxIF
,
TxClk
,
TxSat
,
RxSat
,
Terr-Alarm
,
BUC
,
LNB
and
CEX
– then press
ENTER
.

AIS
AIS: Tx-Terr-AIS = Masked (Active,Mask)
Rx-Sat-AIS = Active
(

)
Use the

or
Masked
using the

.
•
If Tx-Terr-AIS is set to Active, a fault will be generated whenever the modulator senses
that the ‘all ones’ condition is present in the terrestrial data.
•
If Rx-Sat-AIS is set to Active, a fault will be generated whenever the demodulator senses
that the ‘all ones’ condition is present in the receive data.
•
If an alarm is
Masked
, no alarm will be generated.
5.4.11.2
CONFIG: Mask
Æ
Buffer or Ref
Buffer Slip Alarm = Active (Active,Mask)
Reference Alarms = Active
(
34v
)
Select either
Active
or
Masked
using the
▲
▼
arrow keys, then press
ENTER
.
If the Buffer Slip fault is
Active
, then a Buffer Slip fault will be generated in the Rx faults
whenever the receive circuitry senses that the buffer has either underflowed, or overflowed. If the
Buffer Slip fault is
Masked
, no alarm will be generated.
The Reference has two possible alarms:
•
Ref activity
– When active, an alarm will be indicated as a Tx fault when no activity is
detected. The modem automatically falls back to its internal Reference in this condition.
•
Ref PLL unlock
– When active, an alarm will be indicated as a Unit fault. Frequency
accuracy could be compromised, and so the
Tx is suppressed
to avoid problems on the
satellite.
If the Ref fault is
Masked
, no alarm will be generated.
