IP Dual Port PBXgateway and Remote System Administrator’s Guide

Advanced Configuration – Remote
Although usually not required, the advanced features may be used to assist with
managing the Remote or trouble shooting voice issues. The following is a detailed
description of the programming areas that would be considered “advanced” to the proper
operation of the Remote. Please consult the Advanced Configuration section prior to
contacting customer support should issues arise.
Advanced Port Setup
The Remote Port configuration screen is shown below:

Remote->Configuration->Port->Port_1 (and Port_2)

1. Port
Descriptions
– The port description accepts 16 characters of text to identify the
user of a specific port. Typically the user’s name would be entered (i.e. John Smith).
2.
Auto Connect
– The Remote ports can be set to auto connect in case of a lost
connection (or “link”) between the PBXgateway and the Remote across the network.
Normally, if the user was not connected the set would display “Press 1 to connect…”
but with auto connect enabled the ports would attempt to connect automatically at
different time intervals. This means that the Remote will wait a few seconds between
tries (up to a maximum of one minute) before it stops attempting to reconnect.
3.
Diversion
(
Ericsson only
) – When set at “Enabled” this will tell the PBX to enable the
Diversion feature when the user disconnects from the PBXgateway (at the end of the
business day, for example).
Diversion is a function of the PBX and this field will only be presented when the Remote is
configured for the Ericsson PBX type.
4. Setting a Connect
Password
– A Connect Password restricts access to the telephone
port and is typically used in conjunction with the User ID feature. If the password is set
only on the PBXgateway then the user will have to manually input the password when
connecting. If, however, a password is entered for a port on the PBXgateway
and
Remote the user will not be required to take any action.
