Essential Configuration – Remote
Once the PBXgateway and Remote are connected, the MC (Management Console)
allows for the configuration of the individual ports according to the requirements of the
individual users and any network requirements according to the corporate IT Manager.
The following is a detailed description of the programming areas that would be considered
“essential” to the proper operation of the Remote.
Do NOT connect the PBXgateway to the PBX or connect the digital telephone(s) to
the Remote until the Setup Wizard has been run. An improperly configured
PBXgateway can cause damage to the PBX line card and an improperly configured
Remote can cause damage to the digital telephone sets.

4. Port
Enabled
Yes/No - Disabling any unused ports is recommended in order to
reduce any unnecessary traffic on the network link.\
5. Setting
User IDs
– A user ID “maps” which port on the Remote connects to a specific
port on the PBXgateway. There are several ways in which this is accomplished:
a) By default, Port Matching is enabled (

Gateway->Configuration->Connect).
If no User ID is entered on the Remote the user will be prompted to enter the
User ID when connecting to the PBXgateway (by default it is the PBXgateway
port number). The administrator must advise the users of what number should be
entered when connecting.
b) User IDs can be manually input either in the individual port menus or by use of
the User List feature (
Path:
Gateway->User List). The User List (a function of the
PBXgateway only) allows for easier management of multiple users. The main
difference with the User List is that a user can be assigned multiple ports to
connect to (typically not used on a one or two port system).
c) When using multiple Remotes to connect to a single PBXgateway the User IDs
must
be used to specify which user is to connect to which ports on the
PBXgateway.
