Cisco Content Delivery Engine 205/220/250/280/285/420/460/475 Hardware Installation Guide
Chapter 1 Overview of the Content Delivery Engines
Hardware Features
CDE250 Connectivity
The CDE250 models have four 10-GE Interfaces. To achieve 40-GE maximize aggregate throughput,
ensure 10-GE throughput is allocated for each interface.
Several 10-GE line card models are available that default to over subscription mode, for example:
•
Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series 16-Port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Module, WS-X6716-10GE
(4:1 Oversubscription)
•
Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series 8-Port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Module, WS-X6708-10GE
(2:1 Oversubscription)
Both of these line cards have 40-GE fabric that splits ports into four groups, resulting in each group
having 10-GE throughput. These four groups have individual fabric and are not globally shared by all
16 ports within the line card. Do not connect four CDE interfaces to the same group to eliminate sharing
the same 10-GE fabric. The total CDE’s aggregate bandwidth is limited to 10-GE if all four 10-GE ports
are connected to the same group.
shows the port group mapping for a 4-port performance mode on the front panel of the
16-port 10-GE module, WS-X6716-10GE.
