Note
Release 2.6.1 and later releases of the Cisco VDS-IS (formerly Internet Streamer CDS) software
support both serial console connections and local monitor connections for the rescue CD. When

Internet Streamer rescue image CD.
Note
For a CDE280 Engine, you can also use rescue image iso.
•
VQE image CD (if installing VQE software on the CDE250 2V0). For the procedure, see the

Note
For CDE280, you don't need to connect console port physically
Note
On the CDE, use the USB port to connect the external USB DVD-ROM drive. Use the external USB
DVD-ROM drive for all procedures that require a DVD-ROM drive. After the initial installation, remove
the external USB DVD-ROM drive. The internal IDE CF drive becomes the boot drive for subsequent
operations.
Installing a CDE
Perform the following steps to boot a CDE:
If you received a new CDE280, go to the
“Re-manufacturing and Installing CDE280” section on
.
Note
This example uses the CDE250. The procedure for installing the other CDEs in this guide is the same;
however, there may be slight variations in the output.
Step 1
Ensure that the CDE is powered off.
Step 2
Attach the USB DVD-ROM drive to any available USB port at the rear of the CDE (see
).
Step 3
Attach a power cord and keyboard to the CDE, and attach a terminal server to the CDE serial port and
ensure the serial communications are properly configured (see
).
Step 4
Insert the VDS Internet Streamer rescue image CD in the DVD-ROM drive.
