Configuring the Mannequin

To install the placenta:

1. Connect one end of the umbilical cord to the placenta by pushing the

extended blue tubing into the opening on the placenta.

The Umbilical Cord Connected to the Placenta

2. Lubricate the placenta and umbilical cord with cottonseed oil spray.

If the placenta and umbilical cord connection or the umbilical cord and
fetus connection detaches too easily, use rubbing alcohol to clean the blue
tube of the cord and remove the cottonseed oil.

3. Place placenta in the placenta pouch with umbilical cord connection

facing up and oriented towards the opening of the pouch.

NOTE:

The connection must be positioned on the left or right side, not in

the center of the pouch, to ensure a snag-free delivery.
