Retrieving Quota Usage through rquotad
System Administration Manual
187
Titan reports only the Hard Limit quota information through rquotad. As mentioned in the
previous sections, there can be three different quota limitations defined:
1.
User and group quotas limiting the individual user or group’s space and file count usage
within a Virtual Volume.
2.
User and group quotas limiting the individual user or group’s space and file count usage
in the entire file system.
3.
Virtual Volume quotas limiting the space and file count used by a Virtual Volume as a
whole.
rquotad
can be configured to report quota information based on two criteria:
1.
Matching—Searching for a quota in a defined order.
2.
Restrictive—Choosing the quota with the most constraints on the user or group.
Matching Configuration
Using the Matching option,
rquotad
follows a specific order to find a match for relevant quota
information:
❑
First, if
rquotad
is returning quota information about a user, it will return the
user's individual quota within the Virtual Volume if it exists,
❑
Otherwise, it will move to the user's file system quota if that exists.
❑
If no file system quota exists for the user, then it will move to the Virtual Volume
quota.
In this manner,
rquotad
keeps checking until a quota is found for the specified user or group.
Once the quota is found,
rquotad
returns the quota information.
Note:
rquotad can report quota usage information on explicitly defined user,
group, and Virtual Volume quotas, as well as automatically created quotas
based on the defined default quota. The automatically created quota will be
used if an explicit quota has not been defined.
