Configuring the Titan SiliconServer

System Administration Manual

To configure a system power unit

1.

If there is more than one UPS, and each UPS generates sufficient power, Titan can be
configured

NOT

to shutdown when one of the power units fails. This is done by selecting

the

Withstand Single UPS Failure

checkbox. This option will only appear after the first

UPS has been added.

2.

Identify what the server should do in the event of a power failure by customizing the
settings in the

On power failure

fields:

•

Shut down the server if it has been running on UPS power for a specified number
of seconds.

•

Shut down the server after a low battery event has been detected. The duration
between the event and the shutdown can be specified in a number of seconds.

•

Shut down the server before UPS runs out of power. The server can estimate the
amount of power remaining in the UPS and shutdown within a specified number
of seconds before this occurs.

•

Do not take any action on power failure for a specified number of seconds. This
may be used to prevent unintended shutdowns due to UPS battery tests or
maintenance.

Configuring the Titan SiliconServer

The Titan SiliconServer is at the heart of the BlueArc Storage System. Titan requires a number
of configuration settings, such as system name, date and time, etc. License keys also need to be
installed for the protocols and services purchased with the Titan SiliconServer.

Using the SiliconServer Setup Wizard

This wizard performs the basic configuration of a new Titan. The wizard steps through the setup
of a new password, setting the server identification, email alerts, name services, etc. At the end
of the SiliconServer Setup Wizard, a confirmation screen will appear allowing all the changes to
be reviewed.

Note:

An IP address must be assigned to Titan before the setup wizard can

be used. In addition, Titan must be configured as a Managed Server. For
