Merging Fields
Copy data to m erge the c ontents of fields . Us e the c opy data option as m any tim es as nec es s ary
to c opy all the appropriate fields into the m erged field. RFID Data Fields c an be m erged.
In the following exam ple, two text and two non-printable fields are s hown. Data from thes e fields
is m erged to form field 5, and is then printed as a bar c ode.

Define fields 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Define field 5 as a bar c ode. Allow enough c harac ters in the bar c ode field to hold all the
c opied c harac ters .

Apply Option 4 to field 5 onc e for every s ourc e field.
Sub-Fields
Copy a s egm ent of data from one field into a new loc ation, c alled a s ub-field. For exam ple,
extrac t part of the data in a bar c ode and dis play it in text form in a s ub-field. Then, us e the c opy
data option.
U s i n g O p t i o n 5 ( D e f i n e D a t a E n t r y S o u r c es)
Defines how data is entered into a field. Option 5 is required for offline data entry. If the field
holds all fixed c harac ters or c opied data only, elim inate the operator prom pt. Us e Option 5 only
onc e per field. Us e a keyboard or s c anner for offline data entry.
Us e this option to read pre-program m ed data in the RFID c hip em bedded within the s upply. Us ing
Option 5 s tops the printer while reading eac h label; regardles s of the print s peed. If us ing a batc h
quantity greater than one, the data is read from eac h label.
W hen reading data, m ake s ure the m axim um num ber of c harac ters in the field is equal to or
greater than the num ber of c harac ters being read. If not, the data m ay be inc om plete.
Us e option 6 (Upload Field Data) with Option 5 to upload the data from the RFID c hip to a hos t.
