M o n os paced  F o n t   M a g n i fi ca ti on 

Monos pac ed  c harac ters  oc c upy the  s am e am ount  of  s pac e within  a  m agnific ation.    Us e 
m onos pac ed fonts  for pric e fields  and  data  to lis t in a  c olum n.  Dec ide how wide and  tall  the 
c harac ters  s hould  appear  on the  labels .   

Only the 1x width c an be s c anned with the OCRA-like font.   Us ing  a printhead  with 203  dpi, the 
c harac ter widths  are as  follows :  7.9 (Englis h), 20.1  (Metric ),  and 16  (Dots ).  

To c alc ulate other  font widths , m ultiply  the font  dots  (14 dots  for Standard,  7 dots  for Reduc ed, 
24 dots  for Bold)  by the  m agnific ation and  add the  default  s pac ing (3 dots  for Standard,  1 dot for 
Reduc ed, 3 dots  for Bold) between  c harac ters . 

Exam ple 

14 (Standard  font dots ) x  5 (m agnific ation) = 70 + 3 (default  s pac ing between c harac ters ).  There 
are 73  dots  in the Standard  font  at 5x.

Eac h c harac ter in a proportionally  s pac ed font is  a different height and width.  More c harac ters  
m ay be plac ed  per line.  Experim ent with thes e fonts  and  adjus t field  m eas urem ents  as  
nec es s ary.  The bitm apped fonts  (either m onos pac ed or proportional) appear jagged when 
m agnified.   The m agnific ation  range is  1 to  7.   

To c alc ulate other  font widths , m ultiply  the font  dots  (3 dots  for Minim um ,  13 dots  for Average,  22 
dots  for Maxim um )  by the  m agnific ation. 

Exam ple 

13 (Average  font  dots ) x  5 (m agnific ation) = 65 dots  in  an average letter of the CG Trium virate™
