any online c onfiguration pac kets  c hanged, res end the  form at pac ket  to the printer,  s o the
c onfiguration  c hanges  take effec t.

I f t h e P C a n d P r i n t e r A r e N o t C o m m uni c ati ng

If the PC is not c om m unic ating with the printer, follow thes e s teps :

Chec k any m es s ages that oc c ur at the printer and at the c om puter. See the following error
m es s age lis ting in this c hapter for m ore inform ation.

Us e the c orrec t printer c able.

♦

Make s ure the c able is plugged into the c orrec t port on the c om puter.

♦

Com pare the printer’s c om m unic ations s ettings (es pec ially flow c ontrol) with the s ettings on
the PC. They m us t m atc h. Print a tes t label to identify the printer’s c om m unic ation s ettings .

♦

Make s ure the printer is online (ready to rec eive data).

If all of the above are c orrec t, res et the printer. Try the func tion again. Call Tec hnic al Support if
the printer does not es tablis h c om m unic ations .

R e s e t t i ng t h e P r i n t e r

Som etim es , the  printer  rec eives  m ixed  s ignals  and  los es  its   ability  to  c om m unic ate.   If  this
happens , res et the  printer and  attem pt c om m unic ation again.   To res et the printer,  turn off  the
printer,  wait 15 s ec onds , and  turn it bac k  on.

W henever the printer is turned off, all the inform ation s et through the online c onfiguration pac kets
(A-Y) is s aved. See the s ec tions in Chapter 2, “

,” for m ore inform ation

about eac h pac ket.
