Using the Hex Method
The following s teps explain how to derive a hex c harac ter s tring from a bitm apped graphic . Eac h
s quare on the grid repres ents a dot. A blac k s quare indic ates the dot is ON, and a white s quare
indic ates the dot is OFF. A s equenc e of binary num bers , c alled a bit pattern or bitm ap,
determ ines what dots are on and off. The num bers “0" and ”1" are us ed for this purpos e. The
num ber “1" turns a dot on and ”0" turns a dot off.
All hex num bers m us t be two digits . For exam ple, write hex 0 as 00, or hex E as 0E.
