power contributions of the hybrid and the rolling motion.
The Bosch motor operates in a speed range of 60 to 100 revolutions per minute. This is also the
average cadence of a cyclist. At about 90 revolutions of the engine, the motor reaches its
highest efficiency (> 85%).
NOTE:
All parts of the drive, from the engine, transmission, pedals, crank, chain, to chain wreath,
derailleur and hub, must function properly, to start the bike. Pedals and crank may have no
game, none of the chain-rings and sprockets should be damaged or have a side impact. The
chain should be slightly taut and at no point should have bent chain straps, damaged or
protruding pins or immovable chain links.
Sensors
→ Drive Unit sensors
(torque/ pedal pressure, speed, cadence)
In the drive unit are several sensors integrated. The motor speed is measured and monitored.
At the bottom bracket the total torque of both pedals and the cadence are measured and
prepared for digital signal processing.
IMPORTANT: The drive unit is sealed and may not be opened, except by authorized Bosch
Service personnel (warranty). The sensors for measurement inside the housing are adjusted, so
that any change to the electronics could make the whole drive unit unusable. If the drive unit
fails, due to sensor errors and lack of e-drive support, then bring the Hybrid bike to your ave.
dealer.
→ Speed sensor
The speed is measured on the rear wheel by means of a magnetic sensor, and is displayed on
the operating computer. The sensor head is mounted on the left tube of the rear dropout. The
counterpart is an intense magnet, attached to a spoke (see fig. below).
The magnet should pass in a distance of 1 to 1.5 cm on the sensor head, preferably at the
positions "B" or "H" of the BOSCH label (points of highest sensitivity).
