subject to special transport requirements on the road, in the air and on sea, e.g. to comply with
the Lithium battery packaging and labeling rules.
For transportation, the batteries should not be damaged (e.g. broken housing, liquid inside) and
not be fully charged. Open contacts are to be taped off. The battery must be packed in
reinforced carton, shock-proof and labeled according to the regulations. Private users with a
battery complaint or check request should contact their local dealer, first.

Maintenance and Cleaning
The battery and its secured round cells (mounting 18645) are basically maintenance free, but
should be kept, loaded and stored within the temperature limits (see sec. above). Keep the
battery clean and scrub it only with a soft, damp cloth. The battery should not be immersed in
water and not cleaned with pressurized water.
For service requests and in case of a key loss, please note in advance your number of the
battery key e.g. in the annex of this manual. By providing the code number, you have an
inexpensive option to get a new key from your dealer otherwise the battery lock must be
broken, changed or repaired.

Disposal
If your battery once have faults (e. g. severe loss of power after short use, permanently low
voltage, not rechargeable), then please get in touch with your local ave. dealer. The battery will
be returned to the manufacturer (e. g. for checking) or properly disposed.
Under no circumstances, you should try to disassemble or repair the battery by yourself, nor to
change the protection electronics in it, burn parts or dispose the whole battery in household
waste. This can lead to serious accidents, such as lithium-fire or the release of pollutants. Such
abuse forfeits any warranty claim and can bring you in liability for damages!
At the end of life time or irreparable malfunctions, the Lithium battery must be disposed pro-
perly. In the European Union rules are in place (2006/66/EC, 91/157/EEC), according to which
batteries/accumulators are not allowed to be disposed in the trash. Especially Lithium high
power batteries must be disposed separately, because of their potential hazards, if mishandled.
If you have an old or no longer functioning battery, then return the battery in a save bag to
your local dealer where you bought the bike or to a municipal or private waste collection site,
accepting Lithium-ion high power batteries for proper recycling.
