Before working, remove the battery from the bike, to prevent unintentional driv
ing
Loosen the wheel out of suspension by flipping the quick-release lever (180 °)
Turn the lever of the shaft counter-clockwise, until the wheel loosens enough, that it
can be removed from its holder (if necessary remove the axle, keep nut holding screws,
and remember position for re-installation)
By removing the wheel you should consider
- disc brakes at the wheel must be carefully pulled out of the caliper
-
if a hub dynamo is present the connection terminals must be solved
- in the case of a V-brake, the brake shoes have to be solved (unhook the brake cable)
- if a derailleur gear is to decrease, the chain should be in the lowest gear or smallest
pinion and if necessary pull the shifter slightly back
- by a hub gear remove the shifter cable must be un-mounted and eventually the
position of an affixation nut is to be noted for re-install
The mounting and fixing of the wheels is in the reverse order
Screw up the eccentric bolt with the tension lever as far as a resistance is encountered,
then close the lever and check the tightness of the wheel (if not satisfying fix it again, re-
open, re-adjust and tighten)
IMPORTANT: After installation of the wheel check again if all devices are connected properly
including the chain, gear and brake cable, the rotor in the suspension is tight (cross shake), the
direction is correct (lift the wheel and turn) and the brakes work well with little sanding and if
any dynamo is connected to the lighting.
