5.8 Star wheel
The seeding shaft with the metering wheels can
be driven by a star wheel (Fig. 41/1).
The pulses from the star wheel are used to cal-
culate

the working speed

the worked area.
Implements with star wheel are equipped with
the control terminal.

Use of the star wheel requires teaching-in the pulses over a calibration distance of 100 m, in particu-
lar

before initial use
 
in event of different soils (slippage)
 
if the actual seed rate differs from the calibrated seed rate
 
in event of deviation between the displayed and the actual worked area.
