8.4.1.4 Determining the gearbox setting using the calculating disc rule
Using the calculating disc rule and the calibration values from the first calibration, the required gearbox
setting value for the desired seed rate [kg/ha] can be quickly determined.
Example:

Gearbox setting value for the first calibration: ......................... 70

Calculated seed rate after the first calibration: ...................... 175 [kg/ha]

Desired seed rate: ............................................................... 125 [kg/ha].
1. Set the calibration values above one anoth-
er on the calculating disc rule:

Calculated seed rate
175 kg/ha (Fig. 181/A)

Gearbox setting value 70 (Fig. 181/B).
2. Read the gearbox setting value for the de-
sired seed rate:

Desired seed rate
125 kg/ha (Fig. 181/C)

Gearbox setting value 50 (Fig. 181/D).
3. Set the lever for the Vario gearbox to the
determined gearbox setting value and re-
peat the calibration until the desired seed
rate is achieved.
