The Cataya pack top seed drill (Fig. 29/A) is used as part of a seeding combination with soil tillage
implement (Fig. 29/B) and roller (Fig. 29/C).
The seeding combination optimises soil loosening, reconsolidation, precise seed placement, uniform
placement depth, coverage of the seed, and a track-free, well-structured field after tilling. The seed is
carried in the seed hopper (Fig. 29/1).
If the tines of the soil tillage implement encounter a rigid obstacle during soil tillage, the soil tillage
implement can deflect upwards. To do so, the soil tillage implement is supported on the roller and is no
longer rigidly connected to it.
The seed falls into the seed furrows prepared by the coulters (Fig. 29/2).
The seed is metered by the seed metering wheels in the seed housings. The seeding shaft is driven
either by an electric motor or a star wheel (Fig. 29/3).
If the seeding shaft is driven by a star wheel, the speed of the seeding shaft for spreading the desired
seed rate is set in the control centre on the Vario gearbox (Fig. 29/4).
The exact following harrow (Fig. 29/5) closes the seed furrows with loose soil.
After turning at the end of the field, the tractor driver drives in the next bout over the centre of the track
drawn by the track markers (Fig. 29/6).
