pad and press ENTER to store the setting. Do not forget to include
controls and standards in the count. The beginning and ending
sample numbers will be printed and, unless barcode scanning has
been selected via the setup menu, “Press START to Continue”
will begin to scroll across the display. At “Press START to
Continue” , proceed as instructed in section D.
If the barcode option has been enabled via the setup menu, the
instrument operator will first be prompted to enter the batch number
for the batch and the number of samples in the batch, just as above.
The beginning and ending sample numbers will be printed, as
above. Then, the operator will be prompted to enter the 1- or 2-digit
cassette number.
When the cassette number has been entered, the operator will be
prompted to activate the barcode reading device and scan the bar-
codes. Note that standards and controls must also be provided with
barcodes, and scanned in the order in which they will be placed in
the cassette. After each 10 barcodes scanned, the operator will be
prompted to enter the next cassette number. When finished scan-
ning the barcodes of the specified number of samples, “Scanning
Complete”
will be briefly displayed, followed by
“Press Start
to Continue” .
At “Press START to Continue” , proceed as instructed in sec-
tion D.
CAUTION In order to avoid incorrect reporting of results, it is
extremely important to identify the sample in each cas-
sette position and, when barcoding has been enabled,
to load the samples into each cassette in exactly the
same sequence in which they were scanned.
NOTES a. As indicated in section D, cassettes cannot be
reused during a barcoded test batch.
