Step 11.
If you are using tagged VLAN with the VLC1012, then perform the procedure below to complete the
VLAN setup after you have configured all the line cards in the chassis.
•
Using a web browser, log in to a line card.
•
Click the
VLAN Setup
link to go to the
802.1Q VLAN Static Entry Setup
page.
•
Click
Index

•
Clear the
Active
checkbox todeactivate the entry.
2.5
Configuration of ALC1024 and SLC1024
The following is a procedure for the essential configuration of both ALC1024 and SLC1024. It only lists the
critical parameters that must be set for the card to be operational; the unit should work fine with the rest of the
parameters taking the default values. The procedures for configuring the ALC1024 and the SLC1024 are the
same.
To configure a DSL port:
•
Use the
enable port
command (see the
ALC1024
Specific Commands
and
SLC1024 Specific
Commands
chapters) to activate the port.
•
Use the
profile
and
set port
commands (see the
ALC1024
Specific Commands
and
SLC1024
Specific Commands
chapters) to configure the DSL port.
If your network does not require tagged VLAN, the default port-based VLAN configuration (see the
Port-Based
VLAN Commands
seciton in the
Bridge Commands
chapter)
should be sufficient for the vast majority of cases and
no modifications are necessary. The default port-based VLAN configuration allows traffic from a subscriber to go
to the uplink only; no communication between subscribers is possible.
For tagged VLAN, the process is more involved. The configuration of the uplink
MUST
be the last step in the
configuration procedure, because once you change the settings, you will not be able to connect to the line card
with your computer, which is without tagged VLAN capability. If you wish, you can configure the VLAN
associated with the DSL ports before the uplink ports, or you can do this over the network after the line card is put
into service. See the
Configuring the Tagged VLAN
section in the
IEEE 802.1Q Tagged VLAN Commands
chapter
for instructions and an example.
2.6 Configuration
