IES-2000/3000 User’s Guide
Installation and Configuration with the EEC1020
2-3
•
For the ALC1024 and SLC1024, telnet to 192.168.1.1.
•
For the VLC1012, launch a web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and later or Netscape
Navigator 6 and later) from the computer and type
http://192.168.1.1/
in the address field and
press
[ENTER]
.
Step 3.
When prompted, enter
admin
for the user name (VLC1012 only) and
1234
for the password (default
for all line cards) and click
OK
.
Step 4.
The first thing is to configure the line card to use the operational IP parameters.
•
For the ALC1024 and SLC1024, see the
Setting the IP Address section
in the
IP Commands
chapter
.
•
For the VLC1012, click the
IP Setup
link on the
Home
page. On the
IP Setup
page, fill in the
operational IP address, subnet mask and the default gateway in dot-decimal format and click the
Apply
button.
Step 5.
You will lose the connection to the line card after you change its IP address. Close the current telnet
session or browser window and open a new one. In Windows 98 you need to change the computer’s IP
address and subnet mask to be in the operational network and then restart the computer.
•
Telnet to the operational IP address of the ALC1024 or SLC1024 to initiate a new session.
•
Type
http://
followed by the operational IP address of the VLC1024 in the address field of the
new browser window to initiate a new session.
Step 6.
Follow the procedures in section
2.5
or
2.6
to bring the line card to operational status.
Step 7.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the current line card.
Step 8.
Connect the line card to the backhaul Ethernet switch using straight-through Ethernet cable(s). Note
that the VLC1012 line card has two uplink Ethernet ports that are bundled as one logical trunk by
default. On the IES-3000, only one of the two uplink ports is accessible and so no additional
precautions need to be taken. However, on the IES-2000, both ports (port n-1 and n-2 on EEC-1020)
are accessible. If you have configured them as a trunk in section
2.6
, then the two ports must be
connected to the same backhaul switch and you must configure the corresponding ports on the backhaul
switch as a trunk, also. If you have disabled the trunking of the two uplink ports in section
2.6
, then
they must be connected to two separate backhaul switches.
Step 9.
Repeat from Step 1 for the next line card.
Step 10.
If you are using tagged VLAN with the ALC1024 or SLC1024, then perform the procedure below to
complete the VLAN setup after you have configured all the line cards in the chassis.
•
Telnet to the operational IP address of a line card.
•
Use the
svlan delentry
command to remove the default VLAN ID (1).
•
Use the
vlan enable
command to activate the VLAN after you have finished all of your
configuration.
Example:
1.
192.168.1.1 vlan1q> svlan delentry 1
