Step2
Make a SET STEER 0-POS calibration (see 8.4)
Step3
Now the system is expected to work properly in its default set-up.

8.3 ZERO SP POT self-acquisition
This adjustment is used to self-acquire the duty cycle (or the voltage) on the 1
st
output of
the steering command sensor (CPOC1 on CNA#20) when the steering handle is straight
ahead oriented. The system continuously tries to get the steered wheel straight ahead
oriented when the reading SETPOINT ANGLE1 matches the setting ZERO SP POT.
All the steps below are assumed to be performed with the Zapi PC CAN Console (or with
the Zapi hand set in a remote mode from another unit in the truck). Save and re-cycle the
key before re-testing the system. Procedure for self-acquiring ZERO SP POT is:
1) Keep the steering handle in its straight ahead direction
2) Turn on the key.
3) Enter ZERO SP POT (if you are using the Zapi PC CAN Console click on the
“ACQUIRE” button): it automatically turns to a value corresponding to
the
current pair CPOC1 and CPOC2 (2.5 V when CPOC1 is 50% duty cycle and
CPOC2 is 5% duty cycle; breakpoint 5 V to 0 V when CPOC1 is 50% duty
cycle and CPOC2 is 95% duty cycle – see figure 5.4.1-1).
4) Save the new setting.
5) Switch off the key.
As an alternative, this self-calibration procedure may be executed on a VMC demand
(via CAN bus and following a customized protocol).
8.4 SET STEER 0-POS calibration
Adjustment SET STEER 0-POS is used for taking into account for a misalignment of the
home position switch with respect to the physical straight-ahead orientation of the
steered wheel. After the calibration of SET STEER 0-POS, a straight-ahead command
will result in a perfect straight-ahead direction of the truck.
All the steps below are assumed to be performed with the Zapi PC CAN Console (or with
the Zapi hand set in a remote mode from another unit in the truck). Any new setting must
be saved and the key re-cycled before re-tested. Procedure for SET STEER 0-POS
calibration is:
1) Turn on the key.
2) Drive the truck with the steering handle straight ahead: in case the truck does
not travel straight ahead, roll up/down SET STEER 0-POS in a fine tuning until
the truck travels straight ahead. New setting is applied real time. To facilitate
this phase, while changing SET STEER 0-POS a dead zone around straight
ahead is considered. Moving the steering handle within this range, will not affect
the steered-wheel orientation.
3) Save the new setting.
4) Switch off the key.
As an alternative, this calibration procedure may be executed on a VMC demand (via
CAN bus and following a customized protocol).
