4.3.9 Piston rings 2, 3 and 4 should fit the liners so that the clearance in the piston ring
joint installed in the cylinder liner perpendicularly to the liner axis at the distance no less than
25 mm from the upper face surface of the liner should be:
- for compression ring 2 - from 0.50 to 0.75 mm;
- for compression ring 3 and oil-control ring 4 – from 0.45 to 0.70 mm
When the clearance is less ring joints are allowed to be finished. After the finishing
joining surfaces of the rings should be perpendicular.
4.3.10 Piston rings should be installed at the piston with the help of special facility or
general instrument which provides the minimal dimension of the ring set.
4.3.11 Compression rings 2 and 3 should be installed in the grooves of the piston with
the marking "up" facing the bottom of the piston.
4.3.12 After the installation of the piston pins at the piston it is necessary to check
rotation of the rings in the piston grooves. Rotating the piston with the horizontal position of
its axis rings should move without constraints in the grooves under the gravity.
4.3.13 Joints of the piston rings should be turned to the opposite sides in relation to each other.
4.4 Crankshaft
4.4.1 Oil passages and internal cavities of the main and connecting rod bearings should
be washed with the mixture of one portion of (according to the volume) oil and two portions
of the diesel fuel oil which is used in the lubrication and fuel systems of the diesel under the
pressure from 0.4 to 0.6 MPa (from 4.0 to 6.0 kfg/cm
2
) during 5-10 min.
In there are impurities in the leaking mixture it i necessary to repeat the washing. After
the washing oil passages should be blown with the compressed air.
4.4.2 Plugs 4 (picture 4.4) should be pressed in the holes of the crankshaft so that
dimension A should be from 5 to 6 mm and locked using the punching
in three points located circularly at the equal distance.
4.4.3 Gear 3 and counter balance 2 on should be heated to the temperature from 378 to
428 К (from 135 to 185°C) before the pressing.
