connecting rod joints and caps should be properly wiped with the fiberless napkins.
5.4.3 Liners should fit tightly the lower connecting rod heads and connecting rod caps at that
liners extrusions should coincide the corresponding grooves of the connecting rods and caps.
5.4.4 Before the installation of the piston in the cylinder liners locks of the compression and oil-
control rings should be installed with the angle 180
°
one to another, and the expansion lock of the oil-
control ring should be installed with the angle 180
°
to the lock of the oil-control ring.
5.4.5 working surfaces of the cylinder liners and pistons with the rings, connecting rod bearings
of the crankshaft and working surfaces of the liners should be lubricated with the oil which is applied
in the lubrication system of the engine.
5.4.6 Pistons should be installed so that the combustion chambers were displaced to the vee of
the engine.
5.4.7 Connecting rod caps should be installed so that the marking of the index numbers of the
set connecting rod-cap (four-figure numbers), specified at the joint flatness at the connecting rods and
caps were located from the one side.
5.4.8 Thread and bearing face surfaces of the fastening bolt heads of the connecting rod caps
should be lubricated with the oil which is applied in the lubrication system of the engine.
5.4.9 Fastening bolts of the connecting rod caps should be tightened in two steps beginning
from the longest bolt:
- previously - with the moment of force from 90 to 100 Nwm (from 9 to 10 kfg m);
- finally - with the moment of force from 200 to 220 Nwm (from 20 to 22 kfg m).
5.4.10 Total clearance between the side surfaces of the lower connecting rod heads and
crankshaft cheeks should be within the range from 0.1 to 0.6 mm.
5.4.11 After the installation of the connecting rod and piston group crankshaft should rotate free
without constraints from the manual effort applied to the shaft at the arm which length is 550 mm.
5.5 Installation of the distributor timing cover and pulley of the shaft.
5.5.1 Front collar of the crankshaft should be pressed in the hole of the distributor timing cover
facing the oil deflector with the side with the spring so that collar dipping according to the outer face
surface of the cover was from 0.5 to 1.5 mm.
5.5.2 Surface of the front crankshaft bearing for the collar and working edge of the collar of the
distribution timing cover should be lubricated with the oil applied in the engine lubrication system.
5.5.3 Fastening bolts of the cap should be equally tightened no less than in two steps cross-wise
from the middle to the edges.
5.5.4 Crankshaft pulley should be pressed till the hard stop in the crankshaft collar with the
groove which has the bigger diameter to the distributor timing cover.
