Calibration
Calibration is essential to insuring good color quality. The purpose of calibration
is to measure how the DocuColor 6060 is printing the requested colors and to
then make any corrections that are required.
For the Color Server
Calibration at the color server should be done daily, or any time there is the
possibility that the digital press colors may have changed from what they were in
an earlier calibration. Some of the reasons to calibrate are:
• Color displays differently on identical press models produced by the same
manufacturer.
• The temperature of machinery as it warms up affects color intensity.
• Image quality and color reproduction on uncalibrated equipment results in
unpredictable, unreliable results.
• If you change to a different paper. Example: from Coated to Uncoated, or
change paper weights.
To properly predict, manage, and minimize color variables, hardware and
software must be calibrated before production begins.
Refer to the manuals that came with your color server for information on
calibrating that unit.
For Scanned Images
You should always use the eight features available on the Image Quality tab
before running calibration.
Refer to the DocuColor 6060 System Administration Guide for information on
calibrating the digital press.
Using the Calibration feature in the Tools Mode of the digital press will
affect the xerographic adjustments made by the Xerox service engineer
during a process called Max Setup which is performed at the initial
installation of the press and also after a major service call. Using Auto Color
Calibration only impacts scanned copy quality. It will not interfere with or
limit the effectiveness of the color server calibration.
