4.5. Driving
Move the controller knob forward, backward, left, and right to move the device in that direction. The speed can be
adjusted by the degree of controller knob movement.
Releasing the controller knob automatically applies the brakes and stops the device.
When driving on a road, be sure to observe all traffic laws and practice safe driving at all times.
If you want to practice driving, do so in an open space with good visibility.
When operating the device while wearing gloves, be careful that the gloves do not become
caught.
There is a risk that gloves may become caught in control parts, resulting in incorrect control.
Pay attention to the following while driving.
There is a risk of unexpected accident.
• Fully check the surroundings and road conditions before driving.
• Do not drive the device onto escalators or stairs.
• Do not attempt to ascend or descend steps that are more than 2 inches (50 mm) high.
• When driving at night or in places with poor visibility, check that the rear tail light is visible
to other persons before using.
Be sure to drive carefully at low speed in cases when particular caution is necessary, such
as in crowds of people, close to walls, or other locations where there are obstacles nearby,
and in narrow places.
There is a risk of collision and tipping over.
When approaching curbs, steps, slopes, and similar obstacles, approach at a 90° angle and
drive over them carefully at low speed.
There is a risk of tipping over or causing deformation of the base.
Drive carefully at low speed when driving on roads that are not flat or on slopes.
There is a risk of tipping over. As necessary, request help from people around you in order to
stabilize the device.
