● Fuses must be OK.
● The battery voltage must be at least 11.5 V.
● All electrical consumers must be switched off.
● Earth connections OK
Test procedure

The section below provides only general instructions for
checking the accelerator position sender, since due to the
various use cases it is not possible to specify a common pro-
cedure.
◆
The accelerator position sender -G79- and accelerator posi-
tion sender 2 -G185- are installed in one common housing.
◆
Only gold-plated contacts may be used when repairing the
contacts in the connector of the accelerator position sender.
– Switch on ignition.
– Connect vehicle diagnostic tester, and select engine control
unit.
– Select diagnosis function “011-Read measured value block”.
– Select “Display group 2”.
– Check accelerator position display in display zone 2. The ac-
celerator must not be depressed. Specification: 0.0%
– In addition check the idling speed switch display in display
zone 3. The 5th digit from the left must show 1. Display:
xxxx1xxx
– Depress accelerator slowly until fully down, and observe dis-
play zones 2 and 3.
