10.14 Thermal release mechanism with fusible link
Functional description
Air transfer units prevent fire and smoke from spreading
in buildings. The thermal release mechanism closes the
air transfer unit when the release temperature (72 °C) is
reached. Smoke can, however, spread below this tem-
perature.
The air transfer unit consists of the FKRS-EU fire
damper with a thermal release mechanism for 72 °C
and with cover grilles on both sides, but without a duct
smoke detector.
The following applies to Germany:
If fire dampers with a purely mechanical shut-off ele-
ment are to be used as an air transfer unit, the local
building regulations must be observed. As a rule, the
use of such air transfer units is limited to pressure venti-
lation systems.
