Removal
122 ~ 140° F with the piston heater ,
and re m o v e the piston pin from
the piston.
Do not mix the mated parts with
the o th e r s .
32. Mark the v a l v e s , and re m ove the
valves using a valve spring com­
p r e s s o r .
33. R em ov e the valve r o c k e r shaft
lock s p r in g s , and re m o ve the
ro c k e r a rm s, ro c k e r supports
and the springs from the ro c k e r
shaft.
Inspection & R ep air
Wash the disassembled parts tho­
roughly before inspection and re p a ir
to rem ove the dirt, oil carbon and
w ater s c a l e .
Check the cylinder block and the cyl­
inder head fo r crack s and w a te r leak
b efore w ash in g.
Blow all passages with com pressed
a i r , and re m o ve the deposits.
Check that the passages a re not clo g­
ged .
R em ove the carbon deposits from the
top of the pistons, combustion cham­
b e r s in the cylinder head, and also
re m o v e from the valves without dam­
aging the p a r t s .
Do not mix the mated parts with the
o th e r s .
Cylinder Head
1. Check the cylinder head fo r crac k ,
and inspect the gasket surface fo r
bu rr and n ic k s .
Replace the cylinder head if de­
fective .
2. Check f o r w ater leak from the
cylinder head by applying w a te r
p re s s u re of 5 kg/cm2 (70 p s i ) .
If defective , re p a ir o r rep la ce the
cylinder h e a d .
3. Check the flatness of the cylinder
head gasket surface with a straight
edge and a fe e le r g a u g e .
If the w a rp a g e ex c e ed s 0.05 mm
( 0 . 0 0 2 " ) , grind the gasket s u r ­
face with a surface grin d e r.

move the cylinder head r e a r plate ,
and then re m o v e the w a te r pipe
by driving out tow ard s the fr o n t .
N e x t, install the w a te r pipe into
the cylinder h ea d , and install the
L i m i t 0.05mm ( 0 . 0 0 2 ” )
