L U B R I C A T I N G S Y S T E M - Oil Fil ter

Removal

R em ove the three attaching bolts , and
rem ove the oil filter assembly from

the cylinder block.

Disassembly

1. R em ov e the valve retaining bolt

(1 ) , and take out the relief valve

spring ( 2 ) , gasket (3 ) and the
lifter valve (4 ) .

Z e r o to three w a s h e rs (5 ) are
installed between the spring and

the lifter va lv e. Do not lose them

as these w a sh e rs a re to adjust the
lifter valve opening p r e s s u r e .

2. R em ove

the oil filter cartridge

guide, then disassemble the oil

filter c a p , element and the c a s e .

Inspection

Wash the disassembled parts with the

cleaning solvent.

1. Check the element, and rep la ce

it if it is e x c e s s iv e ly dirty o r dam
aged .

2 . Check the filter cap and the case .

If these a re distorted o r dam aged,
replace as n e c e s s a r y .

3. Check the lifter valve fo r fitting

condition and s c o r e s on the sliding

su rface. Replace if damaged.
