a slight reaming is requ ired.
8. Install a new expansion plug applied
with liquid s e a le r into the r e a r of
the cylinder block at the r e a r of
the camshaft bearing.
Camshaft Timing G ear
T h e camshaft timing g e a r should be
also rem oved only fo r replacement,
and the timing g e a r can be removed
on the c a r by using the Timing G ea r
T o o l S et 09210-31010 same as the
crankshaft timing g e a r .
1. Check the timing g e a r fo r c r a c k s ,
dam age, w e a r and chipped teeth.
If n e c e s s a r y , replace the timing
g e a r .
2. Check the timing g e a r run-out,
and if it e x ceed s 0.25 mm ( 0 . 0 1 11) ,
replace the timing g e a r .
3. Check the backlash between the
crankshaft timing g e a r and the
camshaft timing g e a r with a dial
gauge o r a f e e le r gauge.
T h e backlash should be between
0.08 ~ 0.15 mm o r 0.0031" to
0 .0 0 5 9 ".
If the backlash exceeds 0.3 mm
( 0 . 0 1 2 " ) , replace the camshaft
timing g e a r , and/or the crankshaft
timing g e a r .
4. T o rem ove the camshaft timing
g e a r , re m o ve the g e a r retaining
bolt and w a s h e r s , then remove
the timing g e a r using the Timing
G e a r T o o l Set 09210-31010.
5. T o assemble the camshaft timing
g e a r , install the thrust plate and
the key, then install the timing gear
onto the camshaft using the Timing
G ea r T o o l Set 09210-31010.
A f t e r installing the g e a r , install
the w a s h e rs and the retaining bolt,
then check the camshaft end play .
