Super User Mode:
Using the G3’s super user mode, one of the four monitored parameters from the
previous page can be replaced with any one other parameter in the G3. And any one additional G3
parameter can be sent by the PLC to the G3.
Monitoring a different parameter in the G3 using super user mode:
This is an example of setting up the G3 to output the present fault.
1) Go to super user mode. Only those who have been trained in the use of super user mode should do
this. Severe damage to the drive and motor can result from improper use of super user mode. The
keystrokes used to enter super user mode are not described here.
2) Go to EEP.
3) Add H10 to address 36C. For example, if address 36C=HE1, it will become HF1.
4) Looking at page 59 in the September 1996 RS485 Communications Manual, it can be seen that the
Present Trip is at address H0591.
5) Set address 370 to 91. This is the low byte of H0591.
6) Set address 371 to 05. This is the high byte of H0591.
7) Remove one of the parameters currently being monitored, because only 4 parameters can be
monitored. Do this by changing F10 Monitor Output from 15. Changing to 7 eliminates output
voltage, 11 eliminates output current, 13 eliminates output status bit table, 14 eliminates output
frequency.
8) In the PLC, AND this received word with H00FF, and pages 62 and 63 of the RS485 manual show
the numerical assignment of these trips. The value will appear immediately after the other
parameters monitored by the PLC. In this example, it will be in LW11.
