Recording sounds with a microphone

Turn on the microphone. The internal microphone is
automatically disabled.
Once the external microphone is connected, the recording process
is the same as with the built-in microphone.
Using an external audio input device
You can also record sounds from an external audio device, such as
a stereo amplifier, tape deck, or CD player. To attach an external
line-in device:

Locate the line-in jack on the back of the computer.

Using any necessary adapters, plug the cord from the audio
device into the line-in jack.
The line-in jack
Once the external audio device is connected, the recording process
is the same as with the built-in microphone.
